Erwin Friedman, DPM
Board Certified Podiatrist
Dr. Friedman is a board certified podiatrist. He has additional certifications in endoscopic treatment and in shock wave treatment for treating plantar fascitis. He specializes in all foot and ankle disorders resulting from injury, overuse, deformity and degenerative conditions. Dr. Friedman was in private practice for 17 years prior to joining Midwest Sports Medicine in 1999. He is an expert in treating plantar fascitis and heel pain syndrome. Most of these problems can be successfully treated utilizing conservative measures, such as stretching exercises, bracing, custom orthotics and/or physical therapy modalities. If conservative measures are ineffective, Dr. Friedman's additional certifications in endoscopic treatment and shock wave treatments often prove beneficial.
Foot Specialist
Dr. Friedman provides care and surgery for many foot and ankle problems including, but not limited to: Achilles injuries, Bunion correction, hammer toes, ingrown and infected toe nails, plantar warts, excision of neuromas, ganglion cysts and plantar warts, foot fractures and flat feet.
Educating Athletes
Dr. Friedman has a strong interest in sports medicine. He treats lower extremity sports related injuries. He has been a coach for the American Youth Soccer Organization in Deerfield for the last 14 years. For the last several years, he has been a park district youth basketball coach. He is an advocate of educating athletes in proper training techniques for injury prevention.
Senior Attending Instructor at Rush
Dr. Friedman is a senior attending instructor and lecturer for the podiatry residency program at Rush North Shore Medical Center. He frequently lectures on foot and ankle disorders for businesses and at public forums.
