Mary K. Morrell, MD
Trauma and Fracture Specialist
Dr. Morrell is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship-trained in traumatology and has extensive training in fracture care. Her orthopedic practice focuses on:
- Women’s health issues
- Pediatrics
- Hand and wrist conditions
- Arthritis pain
She is especially adept at closed-fracture management and is expert in the use of metal hardware and implants when surgical intervention is required – these treatments provide for limb stability, pain redlief, and quicker return to function.
Hand & Wrist Expert
An expert in arthroscopic procedures, Dr. Morrell has perfected the meticulously precise skills necessary for hand and wrist surgeries such as ganglion cyst excisions, carpal tunnel releases, and fracture care of the hand and wrist.
Elite Female Orthopedist
As one of a small number of female orthopedists in the U.S., Dr. Morrell has a superior understanding of the orthopedic aspects of women’s health issues such as osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and female athlete conditions. She supports the growing need for early detection and treatment of osteoporosis to maintain strong bones and prevent fractures.
For arthritis pain, she employs a full range of joint preservation treatments and, when joint replacement surgery becomes necessary, uses minimally invasive techniques.
Dr. Morrell spends the time necessary to get a thorough history and perform a comprehensive physical exam, knowing that an accurate diagnosis and timely treatment are the foundation of the best treatment plan.
Except in emergency situations or where there is no other option than surgery, Dr. Morrell starts with a conservative approach and, if necessary, works up to more invasive procedures. She has greater than 20 years of surgical experience. Knowing that patients tend to recover more quickly at home, she tries to perform as many surgeries on an outpatient basis as possible.
Dr. Morrell speaks at educational and community events. She also participates annually in the Orthopedic Academy Meeting.
I will treat you using all my experience and training to get you back doing what you want and need to do as fast as possible. I will take the time to listen to you, and use state of the art diagnostic techniques and minimally invasive surgery if necessary to get the best results.
