We recently purchased the newest generation of the Airis Elite MRI machine so that we can get our patients back to work and back in the game. Our new Airis Elite scanner is an open MRI machine to facilitate patient comfort, and it is loaded with the latest computer software and new, updated technology.
The Airis Elite MRI scanner will benefit patients and physicians of Midwest Sports Medicine in a multitude of ways:
- Shorter scan time
- Higher quality images for accurate diagnosis
- Less wait time for patients in need of an MRI
Open MRI Chicago and Suburbs – Safe, Quiet, Accurate, Comfortable
Unlike other open MRI centers our Open MRI provides you with a quieter, more comfortable exam. The Airis Elite produces the highest-quality, vividly detailed images that one of our orthopedic experts need for pinpoint accuracy in diagnosis.
The larger opening in the MRI machine permits easy access during the exam, which can be especially helpful for those who are claustrophobic. Open MRI is a terrific alternative for those individuals who are restricted by the smaller size constraints of a closed MRI and is less threatening for children than the closed tunnel scanner. Additionally, a family member or friend may accompany an apprehensive patient during the scan.
What is an Open MRI?
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a diagnostic imaging technique that combines a powerful magnetic field with computer technology to produce very detailed images of the body’s soft tissues – muscles, ligaments, knee meniscus, the nervous system and the brain.
An MRI is a painless and non-invasive method used by physicians to look inside the body without using X-rays or radiation. It provides an accurate image of most abnormalities and can often reduce the need for biopsies, exploratory surgery and other more invasive procedures.
