Doctor Sean Odell is a Board Certified orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship trained and board certified in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. Dr. Odell specializes in the treatment of complex injuries of the shoulder and knee. He commonly performs arthroscopic surgery of the knee for meniscus tears and ACL reconstructions.
In the shoulder, Dr. Odell does arthroscopic repairs for tears of the rotator cuff, labrum and biceps tendon as well as subacromial decompressions for impingement syndrome, distal clavicle resections for A-C arthritis pain and stabilization procedures for recurrent shoulder instability.
Additionally, Dr. Odell treats all types of orthopedic injuries such as fractures, sprains and sports injuries. He provides conservative treatment for arthritis pain and when necessary, performs joint replacement surgery of the knee, hip or shoulder. Dr. Odell joined Midwest Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Surgical Specialists, Ltd. in 2006 and has staff privileges at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village and St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates.
Dr. Odell strongly believes most orthopedic conditions are best treated with conservative management and surgery is only recommended when conservative options do not achieve the desired results. Dr. Odell obtains a patient’s history, reviews diagnostic tests and performs a detailed examination to determine an accurate diagnosis. He then explains appropriate treatment options so the patient may be actively involved in choosing the best treatment for their individual orthopedic problem.
This collaborative and educational approach by Dr. Odell is well received and appreciated by his patients. The ultimate goal is to get patients to return to their activities-of-daily-living, back to work or competitive sports as quickly as possible.
